Lead Counselor Diane Lee


Mrs. Diane Lee was born and raised in Rhode Island. She attended Gordon College in Massachusetts and got a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She taught students  in Massachusetts, Ohio and Virginia.She became interested in counseling and she got her Masters Degree in Counseling from Regent University. She worked for Norfolk Public Schools both in elementary and middle school counseling. She became a National Certified Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of School Counseling.

 After moving with her husband and daughter to Richmond she first taught at Southampton Elementary and then became a school counselor at Binford, Albert Hill, Elkhardt Thompson, and now River City Middle School. 

Mrs. Lee loves being a Professional School Counselor because every day is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people. She is honored to be a part of her students’ lives to share their struggles and successes.

8th Grade Counselor Carolyn Woodson


Carolyn Woodson is a proud product of Richmond Public Schools.  She attended Clark Springs Elementary, Binford Middle and Jefferson-Huguenot-Wythe High School.  After high school she attended Northeastern A & M College for two years.  Carolyn returned home where she earned her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Services, Master's of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and an Advanced Certificate in Professional Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University.  In addition, she earned an endorsement in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University as well.  Growing up as a child, Carolyn had teachers, coaches and mentors in her life who believed in her skills and abilities when she did not believe in herself.  She earned scholarships in  two sports on the collegiate level; basketball and track & field.  These experiences coupled with her desire to help others prepared Carolyn to choose any profession that she desired.  Carolyn enjoys being a role model and an inspiration not just to students but to adults as well.  Carolyn commented, "All of us are blessed with gifts".  My heart has always wanted to give back and make a difference in a child's life. These blessings have inspired me to love my profession as a school counselor.

7th Grade Counselor
Tez Alexander


Mr. Alexander was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Mr. Alexander is a former 2nd grade teacher in Petersburg Public Schools. He began his journey in Richmond Public Schools as a PBIS Coach and Behavioral Specialist at Woodville and Fairfield Elementary Schools. In 2018, he completed his Master’s degree in School counseling from Liberty University. Mr. Alexander is a Licensed Mental Health Professional with a speciality in music therapy. He is also a mindfulness coach and a member of the Randolph College diversity and inclusion committee. Mr. Alexander is an advocate for black mental health awareness and self care. He enjoys mentoring students and guiding students to their best potential. He looks forward to his experience as a River City Redtail!
