Welcome Letter

Dear River City Middle School Community,

I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the new principal of River City Middle School! It is a privilege to join a school filled with pride and enthusiasm, serving a vibrant and diverse community that reflects the richness of our broader world, and one that remains committed to cultivating a culture of achievement where all students thrive.

I am a very proud alumna of Richmond Public Schools and am privileged to be able to return to Richmond Public Schools in service to you. Throughout my career in education, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a history teacher, dean of students, assistant principal, and, for the past five years, as a principal in Albemarle County Public Schools. These experiences have shaped my leadership and deepened my commitment to schools where strong relationships, high expectations, and student voice are at the center. In every role, I’ve worked to build school environments where students are supported and challenged, and where educators feel valued, trusted, and equipped to do their best work. I believe that holding ourselves to high professional standards is essential because our students deserve nothing less.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be reaching out with opportunities to connect. I look forward to learning more about your experiences and hearing your hopes for the future of our school. I welcome your partnership as we begin this journey together.

Thank you for welcoming me to the River City Middle School community. I’m honored to serve this community and excited for all we will accomplish together. Red Tail family - let's prepare for a successful takeoff to the 2025-2026 school year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Kasaundra E. Blount
